Blue Limestone Park Cleanup: Community Comes Together to Make a Difference

On Saturday, June 27, Aquatic Adventures Ohio was proud to host our first-ever Blue Limestone Park Cleanup in Delaware, Ohio. What started as an idea to bring together divers, snorkelers, and community members quickly became an incredible example of what can happen when people share a common goal of protecting our local waterways.

The event brought together approximately 22 participants, including scuba divers, snorkelers, kayakers, and surface support volunteers. Together, the team spent the day removing an estimated 300–350 pounds of debris from Blue Limestone Park. Among the items recovered were three tires, countless bottles, cans, fishing debris, and other miscellaneous trash that would have otherwise remained in the water.

While the event was a success, it also served as a valuable learning experience. Water visibility was significantly lower than anticipated, creating challenging conditions for the divers and snorkelers. Thanks to careful planning, strong teamwork, and a focus on safety, the event concluded without any reported injuries. The lessons learned will help us continue improving future cleanup events and expand our efforts throughout Central Ohio.

This event would not have been possible without the outstanding support of the Delaware Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Delaware Public Works Department. Their willingness to collaborate, assist with logistics, and help remove the recovered debris played a major role in making this event successful. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and commitment to keeping our parks and waterways clean.
