Specialities
SDI's Advanced Adventure Diver course is designed to enhance a diver's skills and experience underwater. The course emphasizes advanced diving techniques, such as proper buoyancy control, dive planning, and emergency procedures. Upon completion of the course, students will have expanded their diving skills and be certified to dive up to 30 meters/100 feet.
Advanced Adventure is the perfect opportunity to get 5 additional dives under the supervision of an SDI dive professional while introducing new skills and concepts that enhance your open water diving experience. This course can be taken immediately following your Open Water Certification, and we highly recommend doing so as it greatly increases confidence in the skills learned in open water while adding new techniques.
For regularly schedule Advanced Adventure we do one dive from each of the following courses
- Deep Diver
- Underwater Navigation Diver
- Night and Low Visability Diver
- Advanced Buoyancy Control
- Search and Recovery
This course builds on the curriculum learned in Open Water certification, and helps divers develop new capabilities under the direct supervision of an SDI Instructor.

This program consists of:
- Academic materials
- Practice in each of the 5 specialties

- 1 tank with weights – all other equipment must be provided by the student

- We offer 50% off rentals if you need to rent life support, personal gear, a 7mm wetsuit, hood and gloves for this class
How to Prepare for Class
You will receive a detailed email with instructions regarding how to prepare for class from training@aquaticadventuresohio.com. If you do not receive this email, please be sure to let us know ASAP.
Here is an overview of what is required before your first day of class:
- Send us your proof of certification unless we already have this on file
- Log into your SDI account and sign the required waivers. There is a medical waiver that may require a doctor's signature if you answer YES to certain questions. For instructions on how to access this, please click here
- Complete all ELearning in SDI. For instructions for how to access your ELearning, please click here
- Contact us ASAP if you need to rent any gear for class
- Sign up and pay for your diving at Gilboa Guarry for the days of the class, please click here
- Stop by the shop the Friday before your class to pickup the gear provided for class and any gear you rented from us
What to Bring to Class
- Dr signature on your medical form, if required. You can also upload this to your SDI account
- Your scuba gear, described above
- Swimsuit - we also recommend a rash guard or skin if you have one
- Towel
- Water
- Snack
