Under the guidance of an active Scuba Instructor, students learning to be Assistant Instructors will gain practical teaching experience in teaching Open Water, Advanced Diver, and Rescue Diver courses. Upon completion of the coursework, Assistant Instructors are certified to do the following:
- Assist Instructors with students
- Lead scuba divers on guided dive tours
- Teach snorkeling courses
- Teach scuba review courses
The SDI Instructor course teaches current Divemasters and Assistant Instructors how to safely lead as an independent Instructor. The program is divided into 2 sections: an Instructor Development Course (IDC) and an Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC). The former teaches the candidates how to properly teach and design courses, while the latter evaluates their teaching skills.
If you would like to register for the next Instructor course, we would invite you to a consultation with our current staff instructor to go over the details of the Instructor course with you. During your consultation please bring all of your certification cards, your logbook and any information pertaining to your diving career.
