April Great Hammerhead Experience
With Neal Watson’s Bimini Scuba Center
About the Experience
Great Hammerheads are some of the most elusive creatures in the ocean, but in recent years research has
shown that these animals have complex migration patterns, high site fidelity, and seasonal residencies – one
of which is in Bimini! Each winter and early spring, 20-25 mostly female Great Hammerheads migrate to Bimini
and stay from as early as October through the end of April for unknown reasons - possibly following a food
source, possibly to pup or mate.
Neal Watson’s Bimini Scuba Center (BSC) has been setting up dives with these majestic animals for many years
and are definitive experts in the field. That’s why we let them take the lead on this incredible dive!
Logistics
One afternoon during your trip on board Juliet (probably Wednesday, weather pending), we will anchor Juliet
near Bimini next to the BSC boats where they have already started setting up the experience. Our crew will
brief you on the experience and how the dive will be conducted while BSC crew begins baiting the water to
attract the sharks. Once they are comfortable with the set-up they will let us know and the dive will begin. The
pool is open from then until they are out of sharks, bait, air, and/or sunlight, whichever comes first!
Experience level: OW diver
Dive depth: 20-40’ / 6-12m
Dive time: no limit
Water temp: 74-76F
Recommended wetsuit: Full 5mm
Suggested weighting: 10lbs over your normal lead use
Special equipment: none, cameras highly recommended!
1Initial deposit of $250 is non-refundable. If cancellation is made by the customer prior to 120 days of departure, all funds except the initial deposit will be refunded. If cancellation is made within 120 days of departure, a refund on deposits beyond the initial deposit will only be issued if the spaces are rebooked.
Juliet Sailing and Diving will not offer refunds for charters cancelled or shortened due to adverse weather, acts of God, or events not within the reasonable control of Juliet Sailing and Diving. We strongly suggest that you obtain travel insurance for your vacation, especially during hurricane season.
