Open Water Diver Group Classes
Unlock the door to the underwater world with the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver certification, your first step into scuba diving freedom. Learn online at your pace, develop skills in the pool, and experience the thrill of open-water dives, as you earn a passport to dive the globe.
Below you can pick from several group class options at various pool locations around Central Ohio:
- 3 and 4 week classes: $425
- Weekend acclerated classes: $499
All the required gear is included in the cost of the class with the exception of boots, fins, mask and snorkel. Stop in to see us at the shop and you will receive 10% off these items.
Once you have completed the class, we will work with you to schedule your open water certification dives.

What Skills Will You Learn?
During the SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course, you will gain knowledge and experience in:
- Understanding the Aquatic Environment: Learn how vision, light, sound, and heat loss differ underwater and how tides, currents, waves, and surge affect diving.
- Physics and Physiology: Grasp the principles of buoyancy, pressure, air spaces, and the implications of breathing compressed air.
- Equipment Mastery: From selection and assembly to maintenance, learn how to handle dive gear responsibly.
- Dive Planning and Safety: Develop the skills necessary for basic scuba skills, underwater navigation, buddy systems, emergency procedures, and basic rescue techniques.

How to Prepare for Class
You will receive a detailed email with instructions regarding how to prepare for class from training@aquaticadventuresohio.com. If you do not receive this email, please be sure to let us know ASAP.
Here is an overview of what is required before your first day of class:
- Log into your SDI account and sign the required waivers. There is a medical waiver that may require a doctor's signature if you answer YES to certain questions. For instructions on how to access this, please click here
- Complete all ELearning in SDI. For instructions for how to access your ELearning, please click here
- Stop by to see us at the shop prior to class to:
- Purchase your personal gear - mask, snorkel, boots and fins. We provide 10% off these items to all of our students
- Get fitted for a wetsuit and BCD, required for class
What to Bring to Class
- Dr signature on your medical form, if required. You can also upload this to your SDI account
- Any gear required that is not provided for class. In this case - mask, snorkel, boots and fins
- Swimsuit - we also recommend a rash guard or skin if you have one
- Towel
- Water
- Snack
